Multiple Flash Exposures – Reflections

  1. Keep Lighting Simple – AKA single source
  2. Use a tripod – Helps to capture only subject movement.
  3. Set aperture between f/8 and f/16 for best results – Helps to regulate the intensity of the dSLR flash.
  4. Set ISO to 100 – Reduces light sensitivity and helps assure that the light captured is what is desired.
  5. Explain to the subject how to move – Reduces the amount of re-takes needed.
  6. Begin using small  movements – Helps when practicing with multiple exposures.
  7. Keep trying, don’t give up on multiple exposures –
  8. Reduce strobe output to get more exposures – This allows the flash to recharge faster.
  9.  Stick to a neutral background – In order to keep color from dominating the exposure
  10. Continue to try different techniques and subjects – Increases variety and is great practice!
